I have enjoyed reading your AT journal and blog today. I started with one cup of coffee and a few minutes to read AT journal updates. 2 hours later I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your adventurous spirit and zest for life even on the tough days. Your honesty during your journey and humor. Your photos are wonderful. I like the eyes you see through.
As I’ve been inspired by so many on the trail and preparing for a thru hike 2016 you are an added inspiration. As time approaches I hope to find a partner as Emily found you. If not that’s ok I’ll have those glorious hills and sounds of nature and remember great stories of fellow adventurers as I create my own.
Wishing you best of health during your journey
Well thank you so much Judy! Emily is a pretty great hiking partner, but don’t worry if you don’t find someone before the trail – you’ll very likely find one on the trail. Best of luck in your preparations, I’m excited for you! My hike is almost half over, yours is just getting started 🙂
It sounds like a fantastic year! And you visited Finland too! I worked for 4 months in Jyvaskyla but do two months in Muonio…right up there…miles from anywhere! Fantastic adventures! I look forward reading more!
You are correct, words are good, and words are bad. They are our tool to communicate with our fellow humanoid. Your Grand Mama would tell you and I a thing about words if she were here today. One thing I used to hear as a child was, “Words once spoken, cannot be retrieved.” Sometimes we speak in a disproportionate manner to the thought process we should have engaged prior to opening our mouths, simplified Rule, Engage brain prior to engaging mouth.
Confucius said, ” Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” I’d say your journey is the beginning to Understand.
