AT | MAINE | 3 years ago today @emslifeinthewild and I started hiking the Appalachian Trail. Four months, 20 days and 2,189 miles later, we were walking across the summit of Mount Katahdin. Hiking the AT was Emily’s idea, but thru-hiking became a huge part of my life and I was always be grateful for her inspiration. Happy Trailiversary, Em!

This time last year I was on a month long van exploration of the southwest before hiking the PCT. SO MUCH CAN HAPPEN IN A YEAR. Also, Utah is the bees knees.

AT | VIRGINIA | I always said I’d never, ever hike the AT again, not with so many other beautiful trails I have yet to explore. But lately, I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT.

PCT | SIERRA | Dr. G @g_rtbr_bnts taking it all in. Sometimes I wish we could’ve seen one lake not frozen, walked on just a few more grassy patches, crossed a wee bit shallower “creeks.” But I can do that anytime. Opportunities to see the Sierra as the frozen tundra it was the summer of 2017 are much harder to come by.

Seven days ago, my puppy stopped a car with his teeth and lived to bark about it. He’s the baddest of all the asses. 🐺❤️

PCT | WASHINGTON | Sunset over Rainier. It’s often in the darkest skies that we see the brightest stars, said someone other than me.

PCT | CALIFORNIA | My hiking partner, @g_rtbr_bnts is finally back home in Belgium after an epic year of world travel and outdoor adventure and he’s starting to feel the inevitable pull to be on the move again. I wanted to tell him the feeling fades. But it doesn’t. So all I can offer is this: I feel ya.

Every day is National Puppy Day at my house. Woof. 🐕 💙
